Advertising Agency Websites Suck!
Someone got in touch with me last week and asked me to produce a showcase of advertising agency websites. I thought it sounded like a great idea and I got excited about finding what all of these uber creative types could come up with when it came to digital.
However, as I have been looking through their websites the main thing I have noticed is that their is a distinct lack of design quality among their portfolio websites. It really is crazy to think about all of the creativity within their walls, yet they can’t come up with any exciting ways to display their talents.
I have tried to put my favourite sites first. They are by no means the worst websites I have ever seen, but even the good ones are a long way from being exciting or beautiful.

I’ love to hear your opinions on this. Have you seen any great advertising agency sites? Why do you think so many of them create such awful flash experiences?

Oh yes, I blogged this 5 years ago when we were recreating an Indianapolis website for a large Indianapolis agency of over 250 people… we were doing it for the agency because they couldn’t do it themselves because even though they say they are experts in interactive, they really use outsource dev. And here we are, years later, they still haven’t launched it because of all the politics and layers of hierarchy.
