Well the end of May marks the end of the 1st full year of D-Lists and I thought I should do something to celebrate and say thank you to everyone who has made this year of blogging so enjoyable!
How the first year went
I started D-Lists because I wanted a place to share all of the inspiration I had been collecting. I spend a lot of my time looking for amazing design work and felt that at least some people might quite like to see what I found.
At the beginning I was a little unsure as to exactly what I wanted D-Lists to be, but as I got into it I decided to focus on showcasing design work from around the web.
The visits started off slowly, but within a few, and once I had decided to focus all my efforts on design showcases, I was averaging around 40,000 page views a month.
In a little over 12 months, D-Lists has posted 204 times and received 563,079 page views, which I would consider a massive success for a blog run by one guy just wanting to share a little bit of beautiful design.
I’m not ashamed to say that I spend about an hour a week posting my inspiration lists to all manner of blogs, social media streams etc. This would explain why nearly 70% of my traffic comes from ‘Referring sites’ and I’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the services that have helped me promote my stuff. Without them, my stats would be MUCH less impressive.
One aim I do have for the second year of D-Lists, is to increase the percentage of people coming to the site from search engines. It would be nice to rely on them to bring more than 6% of the traffic. If anyone has any advice on that it would be greatly received.
The top 3 most popular posts on D-Lists so far have been:
I really enjoy creating the showcases on D-Lists and the little success it has had has enabled me to guest write on a number of amazing blogs, which has been a massive achievement for me.
I’d just like to say one last MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has ever had a look at D-Lists, without you’re support D-Lists wouldn’t have continued and I would have reverted back to saving all the designs in my LittleSnapper and nothing more. I’m really humbled that anyone would want to look at D-Lists and I just hope that you have found a tiny bit of inspiration here.
